In three straight outings with El Paso teams, Las Cruces suffered its first loss, 19-6, to the Highlanders. Using brilliant defense, both teams fought a scoreless game. Finally, in the last five minutes of the game, the Bulldog defense began to crumble. On a field goal try from the Cruces 12, jose Molinar picked up a bad pass from center and scampered for the first Highlander touch- down. The Clan then recovered a Bulldog fumble following the kickoff and Nick Bonty climaxed the drive, scoring on an 18-yard sprint. The Scotls final touchdown come on a 35-yard pass from Mike Sullivan to Mike XVilliams. Molinar kicked the extra point. Defeating the Roswell Coyotes, 19-7, the High- landers chalked up their third win. Bel Air scored first in the second quarter. Bonty carried the mail from the 6-yard line. Molinar kicked the PAT. Six minutes later, Bonty scored again from the one- yard line, but the extra point attempt failed. Capping the Clan's score, James Alsup sprinted 63 yards to paydirt in the closing minutes of the last quarter. Molinar's conversion attempt failed. Roswell made their only tally in the last quarter on a 38-yard pass play, and the extra point was good.
