l . , , EL ADIQS, I938 Baseball As we go to press, the baseball schedule has not been comp eted. Games will be played, however, with Delta, Tome School, Jarrettsville, Ab rdeen, Havre de Grace, and Dublin. The pre-season prospects are very good with S mmons, Grafton, Houser, Cooper, Peery, Gamber, and Plummer showing the mos promise. There will be 10 games on our schedule and we are looking forward to a uccessful season. The following members of the squad have reported for practice: Cooper, Grafton, pitchers, Houser, Rembold, catchers, Plummer, Stephens, Magnes Simmons, Blev- ins, iniieldersg Peery, Miller, Wallace, Edwards, outfielders. 1 l Volleyball This year for the first time Bel Air entered a girls, volley ball team in the Winter Carnival held in Baltimore March 19. The team competed in the cla is for girls under seventeen years of age and won. the championship in that event. l the five games played they won by scores .uf 17-5, 16-4, 5-2, 15-1, and 6-1 agai st Ellicott City, two teams from Eastern High School, one from Western, and an i dependent team. The members of the squad were Erna Mills fcaptainl, Peggy O,Ne'll, Mary Harris, Elizabeth Wilgis, Boyde Sheppard, Emalyn McNutt, Betty Miles, Al ce Miles, Vivian Lee, and Gloria Stewart. A very attractive silver medal was given ach member of the team. Due to Miss Munnikhuysenis fine coaching our girls won e county cham- pionship last year, but the winning of this event, with keener competi i-on, was an even greater honor. 1 l 51 l l

Baseball i Track At the Maryland-5th Regiment Meet, held during March, Stirling Kehoe ran third to Morgan the national champion, in the invitation 1000-yard Inter-Scholastic Run. At Washirigtcmn, Kehoe ran second in the mile but was placed third through an olilcial mistake. Later he received a silver second-place medal from the Catholic U. Games Committee. Dr. Hopkins, who has been our faithful leader for seven years, has developed many stars during this timeg and we feel confident that his present runners will also gain fame and, likewise, bring credit to their coach. Next year We expect to have our whole team enter the indoor meet at the Fifth Regiment Armory and at Catholic University at Washington. SPRING SCHEDULE Penn Relays ,....,.................., .,...
