ACTING PRINCIPAL MR. JOHN L. BOND, B.S. Washington College Our acting vice-principal, Mr. .lohn L. Bond, a native Harford Countian, was born in Havre de Grace. He obtained his BS. degree in Chemistry and Math- ematics from Washington College and has been with us ever since. Mr. Bond's hobbies are making ship mod- els and wood carvings. His pastimes are hunting and all water sports. His ability as our orchestra leader is well known, but few people realize that Mr. Bond spends many hours instructing individual pupils both during and after school. His favorite instrument is the trumpet. MR. FRED F. HARVER, AB., M.A. Western Maryland College University of Maryland Many of us who have seen Mr. Harver, our acting principal, every day for four school years know very little about him. Mr. Harver is a native Marylander, born in Frizellburg, Carroll County, He obtained his B.A. degree from West- ern Maryland. After teaching several years in Florida, Mr. Harver came to Bel Air where he has taught ever since. The subjects which Mr. Harver is certi- Hcated to teach are History, English, and Science. If you catch him in one of his free moments, he is likely to be at his hobby of collecting' and repairing antique furniture. ACTING VICE-PRINCIPAL

l l l l l l l i l i l Principal L MR. EARLE T. HAWKINS, A.B., M.A. Western Maryland College Columbia University To the members of the class of 1938: That my yearls leave of absence has resulted in my seeing very little of you as Seniors and leaders in the school has been a source of regret to me . . . That, from all acc-ounts, you have maintained and improved the traditions of leadership, scholar- ship, and cooperation established by past graduating classes should be a source of satisfaction to you-as it has been to me. A school depends largely upon two groups for its traditions and its standing- the student body and th-e alumni. As members of the former group, many of you have contributed your part-be it small or large-to that intangible thing-the spirit of Bel Air High School. As members of the latter group, and representing the largest class yet to be graduated from Bel Air, you have an unbounded opportunity to establish your own tradition of being also one of the finest classes among the alumni. I wish for each one of you the finest that life has to offer. Your friend and principal, EARLE T. HAWKINS 5
