C , 1- GRUMBLER Before this Senior Class of 1914.9 become graduates, may we take this opportunity to inform the patrons and friends just how we have been treated, Kor shall we say mistreated! during the school year? The senior year, or at least we have been led to believe, is the happiest year of all. The seniors have privileges heretofore unthought ofg they are permitted to do pretty much as they please. This year, however there certainly were changes in the rules. The teachers treated us with little or no respect. One would think the faculty might have treated us with the respect we deserved but no, they assigned all kinds of difficult lessons AND expected us to prepare them. Mr. Kirkwood gave us algebra,unknowns to conquer with- out giving us an answer book to copy from. The exams we suffered through, not even freshmen could get the answers! Then there was the business of hookey playing. Just let a dignified senior turn his footsteps in another direction other than school on the school days and there was a fifteen page theme awaiting him upon his return. Now wasn't that disgusting? Can't the members of the faculty realize that traveling about the country side is educational? The freshmen! how many horrible things they have done. For example, freshmen walked in the halls along side of us instead of standing back at attention as we passed by. The sophomores were always cooking up something delicious in Home Ec. Class, but did they offer to share thier tid bits with us? No---we were forced to be content with just the smell. Our dear friends, the juniors, however, treated us half way, as befitted our station. They were educated enough to understand the meaning of the word Nsenlorn. Finally, the water in this institution would choke a horse, much less us. You have no doubt heard of uOld Faithfuln, our drinking founts are the exact replicas of NOld Facefu1.n Since we have passed through these years of misery we believe that school wasn't so bad after all, and that we could have been treated worse. So with a sigh, we leave this school to its teachers and students, for the future seniors to grumble at and to love. Marjorie June Harl H Q
