Yi.,, 'YW-A-V---M , O -- 1 THE HISTORY OF CLASS l9h9 BEECH GROVE To some people, history means a series of wars, histori- cal discoveries and similar things. his is not true with the Glass of l9L9, Beech Grove. It gives us pleasure to think of our history as a series of happenings, including both work'- and play. How else could it have been successful? We do not pretend to be unusual, although we are thankful for the abun- dance of talent displayed by our class members. Inesperienced as we are, we realize the importance of working towards a goal, for we know those who do are most likely to succeed. The four years in dear old Beech Grove Aigh are happy days to remember. So let us wander back and consider for a moment the outstanding activities of the Class of IQLQ. Although we were excited on beginning our new career, there was nothing note-worthy or particularly grand about our entraice in 5eptember, 19h5. For a good beginning we chose Mrs. Leach- man as our sponsor and Glenola Young for president. . After a plesant vacation, we returned to school as sopho - mores, well recognized. We dreamed of the day we would really be seniors. Miss Hayden was our efficient sponsor for this ye- ar and Vernon Hudson was president. Now time was passing fast and we were truly njolly juniorsn. Under the leadership of Mrs. Hicks, we accomplished many things. The proceeds from the junior three-act play nThe Scarecrow Creeps and a Thanksgiving supper enabled us to take the Senior class on a trip tc the Ozark Mountains. ' Finally, after going to school for eleven years, we reached the climax. At last we were SENIORS. We presented, along with our fellow students from west Louisville, a senior play nNo Brde For The Groomn. The juniors honored us with a trip. It is now with feelings of joy and pride we say our last fa- rewell to dear old Beech Grove High. Needless to say, we hope the following classes will derive as much happiness in being a of this great school, as has been our privilege to enjoy. Coleen McDaniel
