The main action centers around Abby and Martha Brewster, two delightfully quaint and guileless 'Victorian ladies, who believe it their duty to help lonely old men from the world by means of elder- berry wine llavored with arsenic. Their nephew, Mortimer, a drama critic, who loves his aunts .and tries to shield them, has matters compli- cated by the arrival ol his wandering brother, jonathan, and his partner-in-crime. Dr. Einstein. Nor are things made casier for him by Elaine, the genial Dt. Harpers sophisticated daughter. who is infuriated by Mortimer's advice to run along homef' Brother Teddy, believing: himself to be Teddy Roose- velt, appears from time to time, blowing his hugle and startling the neighbors, and Mr. Gibbs, who comes looking for a room, is frightened almost out of his wits. Ollicer O'l-Iara, an aspirant to be a playwright, Lt. Brophy, the pleasant cop, who comes for the Christmas toys, and Lt. Rooney, who has diriiculty believing the evidence. all play their parts in bringing the storv to its rightful conclusion, as does Mr. Wlitherspoon, the super- intendent of Happy Dale Sanatorium, .ffl I- E -. , ez ,- Memoirs of the Class of '56 l--WM-ll ulmb-h-I1. ,ZiG1'1uluntcs' gut rngctlmcx. 57Grab ynur lurk:-r .mil run lor yhlll' life. I9- A Look at the Trip This party's getting rough. On Thursday night, March 29, a group of very excited seniors and their chaperones set off tor New York City via Trailway Bus. After a long night of sleeping HJ, eating. talking, and stops ar various places along the way. a very, very sleepy group arrived at the Hotel Piccadilly on l9th Street, New York City. After a long hus ride, the hig city with all its fog looked quite gloomy and lacking in glamour to them. hut after freshening up a hit and getting some food in their stomachs, they set off to the RCA lixhihition Hall to see Dave Garro- way's TODAY program in action. Next on the agenda of numerous tours was a look at Radio City and Rocke- feller Center, where they had lunch at the Down-Under Restaurant. The afternoon was spent seeing a presenta- tion of the famed liaster pageant at lflayden Planetarium. On liritlay night, they took in a movie at Radio City Music Hall. The movie was accompanied hy a per- formance hy the worltl-famous Rocketies and the liaster program given there each year. Saturday was taken up luv an eight-hour tour of spots of interest in New York. Places visited iriclutled the Cathedral ol St. john the Divine. the lmpire State lluiltling, the Statue of lihertv, Chinatown. thi- Bowery and the UN Building. That night despite some very tired, sore feet from walking innumerable miles. the seniors donned their dress-up clothes and had dinner at the Bal Taharin Night Cluh. Then they took in it lloor show there. The Bal Talwarin will always he remembered hy some members ol the class as the place they drank their first coffee . . . only when the truth was revealed. it was not coffee, hut houillon. Faster Sunday mornine found all the seniors decked out in their best, making quite an impressive liaster Parade of their own. ready to attend services at the church of Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. This service was one of the highlights of the trip and a service that none of the seniors will ever forget. On Sunday after- noon, they took a three-hour hoat cruise around Man- hattan Island. Monday morning, April 2. the seniors were on their way home and they arrived ahout lil P. M. that night. Although the New York trip was the most memorahle occasion of their lives, Bedford looked mighty good to them when they arrived home. Chaperone-s for the trip were Carlton liurnette, Mrs. bl. W. Dooley, Sr., and Principal and Mrs. Borden. A Tribute to We are very proud of our teams for their achieve- ments during the past year. Although none of them won any high honors in sports, we feel that they have advanced far in sportsmanship and character. Their ability off the held as well as on has been worthy of if 51 Our Teams envy. Members of this year's team will long be re- membered as people who knew how to play the game well and in a clean way.
