— A CELESTIAL EVENTS On Friday, September 11. the City of Bedford was named “Capital for a Day. The Governor of Ohio, Ri- chard Celeste and his staff visited many area sites as well as the Bedford High School gym, which had recently acquired a brand new floor. Fallout, which consists of three alumni and one BHS senior, provided background music for the entering student body. High spirits were exhib- ited by both faculty and students as the band finished with the popular Beatles’ song Twist and Shout.” The governor was then introduced to the excited student body by Ms. Pearl Austin. His opening remarks, which referred to his victory over Governor Rhodes and the upcoming game versus Cleveland Rhodes, quickly won over the audience. Ce- leste’s purpose soon became appar- ent; to promote a campaign against the use of drugs. Govcner Celeste proudly displays his “Just Say No shirt given to him by the student body. Marla Hudson and Apnl Brigham display two perfect smiles. Ruby Cheeks of WMMS enjoys the sunlight and the attention Irom students. 14 SPECIAL EVENT

Noelle Celeste, who was a popular speaker with the student audience ac- companied her father. Guest appear- ances by Ruby Cheeks of WMMS, Chris Bando of the Cleveland In- dians, and Lynn Tolliver Jr. and Jef- frey Charles of WZAK also went over well with spectators. As a united front they urged students to say no to the social influences of drugs and alcohol. Student representatives Tanya Pa- lik and Bill Brand presented Gover- nor Celeste with a Bedford Bearcat “Just Say No” t-shirt. The festivities were concluded when SADD asked students to avoid using drugs for two weeks. The governor and his daughter aided in the distribution of the pledge form, creating a more than Celeste-ial event. Noelle Celeste gives an emotional speech Leslie Craig. Maria Botta.
