Hailing from Masontown, Pennsyl- vania, Mr. Don Cumley has taught at BedfordHigh School since 1960. He has both his Bachelor and Masters de- gree in Education. Waynesburg Col- lege, West Virginia University, Cali- fornia State College,Pa..and Akron University are schools that he has at- tended. Looking back at a rewarding career, he feels teaching has changed and is more challenging. Mr. Gorden Parnell was bom in Dayton, Ohio. After earning his de- gree at Wittenberg College, he came to Bedford. He has taught virtually all Social Studies Courses such as Ameri- can History and Government and most recently Consumer Economics. Taking it easy, Mr. Parnell will work part-time for Holcombs and plans to travel. Mr. Jerry Galvin, a native of Ath- ens, Ohio is retiring after thirty years of teaching. A graduate of Ohio Uni- versity and Kent State with a Bachelor and Masters in Education, he has en- joyed teaching. During the twenty- seven years spent at Bedford High School, he has witnessed many changes and met many interesting people. With his plans for retirement undecided, Mr. Galvin will miss teaching. A native of Lima, Ohio, Mr. John Wolfe has educated himself and oth- ers throughout his life. Receiving his Bachelor of Science degree at Bowling Green State University, he went on to his Master of Arts at Indiana Univer- sity. Still expanding his knowledge, he returned to Bowling Green for a de- gree of Educational Specialist in School Administration. Over these 30 years, Lima, Oregon and Bedford City Schools learned from him as either teacher or principal. During retire- ment, Mr. Wolfe will move closer to his family in Northwest Ohio and re- sume his remodeling jobs, including those his wife assigns. Transferring to Oxford, Ohio, after being bom in Liberty, Indiana, Mr. Jim Rose attended nearby Miami University (Ohio). He received his Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees there and went on to teach Math. Health and Physical Education. His first five years as a teacher were split between Monroe and Urbana High Schools and the U.S. Army. Today, 32 years after entering B.H.S., Mr. Rose appreciates the opportunity he has had to work with the students and staff. Ms. Karolyn Hood came to Bedford after growing up in Moorefield, West Virginia. She began her career with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Physical Education from Fairmont State College. She continued her edu- cation at Kent State and received her Masters of Education in Guidance and Counseling. For thirty and a half years she has enjoyed working at B.H.S. mainly because of the direct contact it offered with the Students. Ms. Hood plans on writing and travel- ing as well as enjoying the second half of her life. BEDFORD NEWS 9
