Formal Initiation Refreshments are served. FRIENDSHIP CLUB The Friendship Club, sponsored by the Y. W. C. A., is the largest club in Bedford High School. The membership is open to all girls in the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades. An impressive initiation of the new members opened the year’s activities. The major goals of the club are to promote ability and desire to work with others and to be of service to all. These goals are accomplished through such things as the Christmas Party, the Letter Dance, the Faculty Tea. and the Pa-Ma- Me Party. Club programs carried the theme of Down on the Farm.” Included as some of the program activities were We're off on the hay wagon. the Style Show, the Harvest Hop, the Hayride. and the annual Play. The club is sponsored by Mrs. MacArthur, ably assisted by Miss Fenton. The opening social event of the school year was the Harvest Hop. The Y” ballroom, transformed into regal beauty for the event, matched the lovliness of our reigning queen. Judy DeSantis and her court. Judi Fisher, Bonnie Leonardi, Jayne Robinson, and Shirley Morris. The Hayride. just the opposite of the splendor of the Hop wa% a merry, virorous evening. Two wagons filled with hay and enthusiastic Icids jogged along miles of country road. The wagons pulled up at the pavilion at Round-Up Lake Park where everyone spent the rest of the evening dancing, laughing, and enjoying refreshments. A warm fire after a wet ride.

Barney Cooper Drum Major The Bedford High School Marching Band created a sen- sation at half-time festivities during the football season. The band, led by Barney Cooper and six high-stepping majorettes, spent hours of work to provide a new show for each appear- ance. Other activities of this fine representative organization include the Tri-City Band concert, staged through the co- operaton of the Bedford, Garfield Heights, and Maple Heights bands, and the band concert, which is an annual spring feature. JAMES FRY Mr. Fry teaches instrumental music in the second- ary schools. He has developed the band into one of the outstanding organizations of its kind in the northeastern section of Ohio.
