His friendly relation- ship with the student body is responsible for the smooth functioning of our over-crowded school. Mr. McCrae. as assistant principal, has the thank- less job of insisting thot we take advantage of our American privilege, the attendance of a public high school. Despite some resistance from the student body he accomplished his task, and managed to maintain his sense of humor. The quiet efficiency of office routine was the result of excellent efforts of the clerical force. Their contributions to the school program were indispensible. RALPH DEEVERS Clerk-Treasurer DALE D. HESKETT. Superintendent ADMINISTRATION BEDFORD CITY SCHOOLS The success of any venture is dependant upon excellent leadership and co-operative workers. The Bedford City Schools are for- tunate in having both ingredients for success- ful operation. The members of the board of education are all active in leadership in the community and their total years of service on the board aggregates sixty-eight years. Mr. Heskett, superintendent of schools, is completing his fifth year. During his tenure four new schools have been added to the sys- tem and the enrollment has increased fifty per cent. Mr. Deevers. clerk-treasurer of the board, and his able clerical help are responsible for the healthy financial condition of our schools. EDITH PREISING. WARREN MILLER Director of Curriculum SPECIAL SERVICES The special service personnel provide profes- sional assistance to the administration, faculty, student body and parents. Special education teachers enrich the curricu- lum for gifted students and give additional as- sistance to students who are having difficulties with their studies. Group and individual testing, counseling, and vocational and educational placement are the responsibility of the psychologist and the guidance department. Improved health and home-school relationships are the goals of the visiting teacher, speech and hearing therapist and the school nurse. The curriculum, the whole educational experi- ence of the student, is the concern of the faculty. Co-ordination of this effort is centered in the director of curriculum. RODGER E.
