PLACE-Calcutta, India The sun was beating down upon the streets of Calcutta, India, with rays more intense than usual for January weather. Few inhabitants could be seen in 'the streets. The only reason I ventured forth from my abode was the fact that today was the first of January, 1935, and I wanted to celebrate. As I walked down the street I saw a sign of a famous crystal gazer. I had never consulted one before, therefore, out of curiosity, I entered the studio. I could see nothing in the dim waiting room but lounges, draped with brightly colored Indian blankets. Tapestries of various Eastern designs adorned the walls. A single darkly tinted lantern sus- pended from the ceiling cast its feeble rays about the room. No one apparently was present, so I examined the rare curtains with which the owner had decorated the place. At the far end was a tapestry whose scrolls and figures purported some mystic Oriental symbolism. As I approached nearer, a voice out of the shadows behind it called in low liquid tones, This way, Madam. I was struck by the suavity of the tones, and by a strangely familiar note in it. The crystal gazer, dressed in expensive Mohammedan costume, stepped beside the tapestry. Beneath his brilliant turban was a very un-Mohammedan face. A small pointed black mustache gave it a somewhat American jauntiness. For all its familiarity, I could not place that face. The crystal gazer took me into a small room, which was rather dark, with the exception of a large luminous ball, resting on the top of a marble column. As the gazer bent over the ball the rays of the phosphorescent light struck across the side of his face. I gave a cry of amazement. I recognized that familiar face and voice. It was my old school friend, Frank Cunsolo. After we had chatted about India and his ventures' there, he consulted the crystal concerning all our old school friends. After many mysterious incantations, these arefthe things the crystal revealed. . Viola Feaster foolishly fell in love with a young Rodolph while she was still in high school and was married the next year. After two years of bliss Mr. Rodolph left her with Rodolph Jr. on her hands. She is now earning her living selling tickets at the Star Theatre in Cleveland. Eddie Profant with all his brawny strength decided to be a blacksmith and make race horse shoes. He can be found at any time under the spreading F' it 'l o . 9 Nineteen

Anton Jablonowski has a barber shop on West 42nd Street, New York City. He has a prosperous business and has an exceedingly happy home life. Katy Durcansky is attracting the attention of the best literary men in America by her articles that appear monthly in the' American. She, by her clever ideas and vast vocabulary, is attempting to put some of the present day problems of our Democracy before the people of America. Evelyn Burkett made a name for herself by her wonderful ice-skating, but one summer she devoured too many bonbons, sent by her many suitors, and was forced to give up ice skating as the scales dictated. She married Wiggs Wardley, who had bought out Nagel, and who now has the tin shop next to Horton's, and who likewise had grown stouter. Ethel Reese, when she reached the age of twenty-four, decided to marry her Akron suitor. Her mother said she was too young to marry and must wait two more years. One night she and George eloped and were married in Macedonia, where they spent their honeymoon, while the parents of both searched all over Newburg for the missing pair. Edith Moore moved to California, and her pretty face attracted the attention of a great film producer. Out of the whole Senior Class, she was the only girl whose dreams of a movie career were realized. Nick Rimboi determined to be a pugilist and fought his way up the ladder of fame until he was known as Battling Nickv the Middleweight Champion. Charles Stilwell, a very promising lawyer, broke the heart of his family when he married a chorus girl, but when he brought Laura homie his parents were reconciled. Frank said he had heard from Bedford recently, and that Laura was Stil well. Dorothy Westbrook started a vigorous campaign against girls smoking cigarettes, and is now a famous Woman's Uplift Society leader. lt is said she will soon run for President. Fred Oehlschlager was so disappointed when he found that Isabelle Austin preferred single blessedness to him, that, in his grief, he changed his religion, went to Europe, and joined a monastery. Alfred Deisman made his money by keeping a second-hand store on Ontario, near the Market House. Evelyn Smith was a demonstrator for Mother Gray's Wrinkle K Q 'W o . - ll 0 Twenty
