CLASSES When we, the seniors, entered high school we trudged up a long hill-to Beaver High. It looked pretty big to us that first day, for we were frightened. Once inside we were herded into the auditorium and found seats reserved for us on the shelf. Everyone seemed to be getting such a kick out of seeing us peep over that rail, wouldn't they have been surprised to learn just how much we enjoyed it too? There isn't one among us now who would not say those were the best seats in the house. Filled with spirit and resolved to be sophomores to the hilt, we yelled with fury at pep assemblies, attended en masse the football games, and weren't con- tent just to support the team here at home. We got on that bus and traveled to Welch and then we all swam back. Remember? Prim Priscillas, John Aldens, Y-Teens, F.T.A., F.N.A. soon began to realize that we were as valuable members and as hard workers as anybody else. Some of us joined the A Cappella Choir and such an experience that was! Remember those Melody Magic rehearsals and that trip to Pocahontas? We had a full-fledged cam- paign to elect sophomore class officers and they led us through the annual party. We stood on the balcony of the gym and looked in awe and wonder as once more, and only once more, the reigning royalty of Beaver was crowned in splendor and gaiety at a carnival in a Land of Dreams. On the last day of May we all looked in wonder as the dignity of the seniors crumbled before the aspect of leaving Beaver High School forever, It was just the end of another school year, our sophomore year- AND THE BAND PLAYED 'DIXIE' ! We became juniors, we had taken a step up the ladder. Now we could turn in our seats and display thumbs down at the balcony. Jumping right into the swing of things we elected officers for this was Hour Junior-Senior Prom. We sent our representatives to the Student Council and they looked vaguely familiar to each other. Some of our members played varsity football this year and our faculty gave it all a try, too. Remember Coach Elvis', as a cheer- leader- Our team is RED hotlv A part of us elected intermediate algebra for our schedules and barely came out aliveg some of us took chemistry and Mr. Fanning barely came out alive. We saw our names mentioned more often in the Chatterbox and the Beaver Press , we sang solos in Melody Magic this yearg we saw our names posted as having won parts in the Three One-Acts , we were a big part of Beaver High School. In the spring we worked all day at a rummage sale and then danced all night around a Carousel We sat with baited breaths as the National Honor Society members came into the audience with their unlighted candles, fourteen of the girls were given invitations to be on the Laurel Chain, and we began to sell boosters to be on the annual staff for the following year. We served seniors at the Senior reception and thought about next year at this time , we ushered at graduation exer- cises and saw ourselves made officially Seniors.'i The next fall term we were new seniors in a new building with a new name. The soph- omores began the year of assemblies on the ground floor, which gave upperclass dignity quite a blow. Now they too must sit out a term on the shelf. The juniors still resent hav- ing to wait for the seniors to leave the auditorium but we had to do it too, remember? We all had to be initiated into the cafeteria routine, and the seniors came out on top again, we were excused from class five minutes early to get in the lunch line. We had bonfires to work up steam for our ball games and one in particular built itself up into a Pep Parade. Sixty cars stuffed with loyal Beaverites wound their way around town shouting for Beaver to beat Princeton. The Tigers won the game but they could never beat us. We lived an exciting year filling all the offices and duties and accepting all the honors given members of a senior class. We were officers of the Student Council, we presented our beauty for the Homecom- ing, Queeng and a part of us were crowned and announced as Beaver royalty at the Spring Festival. We even ruled the city for a day on Student Government Day. At last, we were the stars of the Senior Class play, we were the honorees at the Senior reception. We chose calling cards and invitations for graduating exercises, we were fitted for caps and gowns, and we marched down the aisle. but this time the band played Pomp and Circum- stance. We learned that time honored procedure accept the diploma with the left hand and shake hands with the right and after we had pulled it off perfectly, we went out to celebrate. And so we leave-we see the 'Forward Look shining from the eyes of the Class of '60, we have noticed a Shadow of another school and another day on the countenance of the Class of '59g but we, the Class of '58, take with us our beloved Tradition,', the memories of two years at Beaver High School.
