JACKSON, Principal The Beaver Stai, the Senior Class, the entire Student Body4all realize that what success Beaver has attained during the last two decades has been due to the successful administration of Mr. Jackson, a man of wide interests and experience. He is not only responsible for keeping the machinery of Beaver High School oiled, but his responsibilities include the county, the state, and the nation as the follow- ing bit of data will show: President, Mercer County Teachers' Association, 1934-35. President, Mercer County Principals' Association, 1935-36. President, West Virginia High School Athletic Association since 1931. First Life Member, West Virginia State Education Association, Jan., 1931. President, High School Division, State Education Association, 1922-23. Member Legislative Committee, State Education Association, 1923-24. Radio Speaker on Problems of the Child and the Teacher. Life Member, National Education Association. Member State Commission of North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools since 1929. Our principal is not only a member of the National Education Association, but he is an active one, having served on important committees since 1931. At present he is a member of the committee on Tenure. For the past ten years Mr. Jackson has served as a member of the State Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. This high honor carries with it great responsibility as it is the duty of this com- mission to inspect the high schools of the state and when they have met the requirements, take them into the Association, they must continue to inspect first class schools to see that they are keeping their standards, if not, they are first Warned and the second time dropped from the Association. His Alma Mater is Ohio State University, from which he took his Masters Degree in 1912. Since then he has studied in several American Universities and abroad. His five summers of extensive travel abroad include England, Italy, France, Germany, and Holland. He is now a member of the National Travel Club of America. During our stay in Beaver we have all found in our beloved principal, a most versatile and likeable man. We appreciate the staunch, loyal support that he has given the Class of 1939. Page
