SENIQK VHSIFQIQ On a cold, dreary, misty, dav in September 1938, 22 pupils found their way up the school house hill to Miss Margie Glandon This is probably the worst class to ever attend the Beaver City Schools All of the pupils that came that day were very excited for this was their first day of school Among the first to arrive were the Lutton twins they wanted to be early for there first day at school but since that time, things have changed very much, now it seems as if they went to be the last one's in school Then came two rescals of our class Rodney Hardin and Paul Malone Then in order came Robert New James Edmonds, Howard Brooks, Donald hickerson Buster Barbers Eugene Alloway, Ronald Cridlebarugh Gerald Dirks, Rex Moline, Duane Clawson, Johnnie Leonard, Vaughn Merwln, Ester Ray, Lavada Bekelaar, Dora Mae Chitwood, Wilma Dutton, Marilyn Harding, and last but not least always coming in late was our delryman Merlin Penrod All of us were promoted that year and we moved on to the second year of school There Miss Ruth Allender, greeted us Most of us were very happy to be there for we reallv thought we were learning something after all In that year we lost Donald Nickerson Perald Dirks Eugene Moreland and Verlie May Cannon By the end of that year we had just begun to learn to write and this made us feel very good and we also learned to tell time In our third year we moved across the hall to attend school under Mrs Orena Yoodruff She did a fine Job of teaching and it was under her that we really learned to write It was then that Vaughn Merwin was at his worst, in order to keep him under control she tied a piece of rope around his neck an led him around with it He was always being tied up to the bell rope gained Mearl Dean Clason, Dora Mae Chitwood, Bob Phillips, Harlan Fletcher Eunice May Crang, and lost Howard Brooks Johnnie Leonard and Wilma Dutton school under the direction of Miss Joan Metzger It was in this year on Decem ber 7 19hl, that war broke out and we were all just as concerned as the rest of the people This year the same old group kept riding up the hill with 'Mugg Freasn We lost Esther Ray, Verlie Mae Cannon, Eunice May Crang, Bobbie New James Edmonds, Dickie Moreland, Ronald Cridlebaugh, Buster Barber, and gained Mearl Dean Shellenbarger We built a post office and got to use ink for the first time In our fifth year of school, we finally after four long and strenuous years got to move upstairs At this point, our teacher was Miss Neve Nissen, and later in that year we got to meet Mrs Grace Rlelly, for the first time Miss Nissen seemed to always be having trouble with the students, especially three which were Paul Malone, Bob Phillips and Merlin Penrod Miss Nissen always felt like she wanted to throw ink bottles at the students, especially Helen Kentfield To this merry group came Donna Williams and Helen Yentfleld It seemed like the girls were getting short and the boys were taking over the class We lost Terry Barnes, Wilma Dutton, Rex Moline, Mearl Shellenbarger, it looks as if Wilma did not like us It seemed like in this year of school almost every boy in our class got a crush on Terry Barnes and when she moved away we were down in the dumps After this vear we got to move into the Junior High room because of the shortage of teachers We felt we were cheated because we would not have recess any more Our teacher for this sixth year was Miss Albro and Mrs Rielly Mearl Shellenbarger again Joined us, it seemed as lf he didn't like Idaho His dad always had him hoelng potatoes We had some very interesting times in the sixth grade up there with the 7th and 8th grades We really felt grown up The next year we moved over two rows to be in the seventh grade To this sad faced group came June Bownes, Jack Keezer, Helen Rayburn, another preacher's child We were sure lucky to have all the preachers in our class Dale Davis, Joyce Ford and Malvern Bickett, the redhead of our class Our teachers here were Mrs Fletcher and Miss Albro again Never will we forget those flash cards Mrs Fletcher made us say everyday in History class and also our last day at the school picnic Then our last year in Grade School We really did work We did everything we could get away with and more To this merry bunch came Wayne Dillin, Donald Oliver another country boy, and LaVerne Wentling We lost Dora Mae Chitwood again We studied everything in that eight year at school, that we had in the first seven We sure were going to be glad when we could get out of that old grade school building Our teachers were Mrs Fletcher and Paul Rawlings For the first time we had an eighth grade graduation on May 2L, 19l+6 P I fl' P f v . h ' I S I D P ' . . , D A 1 D ' .
