The purpose of the club is to encourage the young people of our country to appreciate the civilization, language, literature, and art of ancient Greece and Rome. The members attend the Latin forum at Winth- rop College each year, and take part in school activities such as singing Christmas Carols in as- sembly, in Latin. Pictured here are the second year members and honorary members who are no longer taking Latin. 3 J. C. L. The Junior Classical League is made up of Latin students and former Latin students. It was organi- zed in 1947. Pictured here are the first year stu- dents and their sponsor Mrs. Virlie V. Holmes. They are initiated at the first of the school year, and are then members until they graduate.
