Tume does not stop for thus For thungs undone are thungs we muss And tumes moves on ut does not care We must use each day as though a year We must luve as best we can To better know and understand To serve and love our fellow man Then tume wull not have passed un vaun by .leanue Black Hustory It was Fall 1951 Nunety eught scared but excuted boys and gurls stood un luttle bunches awautung the begunnung bell that would mark the dawn of each one s hugh school career Shakung from excutement rather than fear each gurl and boy ascended the steps and walked the halls that were to become and all too soon so very famuluar and common Enterung as seventh graders we were thrulled wuth the udea of changung classes fuve dufferent teachers athletuc teamwork and Band We were oh so honored at a nod from a senuor They seemed as far away and apart from us as nught us from day Mr T W Eatmon was our respected pruncupal He kept us un lune and stood as a bulwark agaunst any musdemeanors on our part Though we saw very luttle of Mr Mac around school everyday hus name was mentuoned quute often and now and then Mr O K MacDanuel spoke to us un assembly where we sat un the very back row of the audutoruum We had quute a tume wuth our classes un raun or shune we attended them un the several pre fabrucated buuldungs that were scattered about the campus We seemed no more than spectators un the excutung drama of hugh school lufe Eughth Grade' Now we felt we were almost a part of thungs and would possubly have felt closer had ut not been for the addutuon of more autsude buuldungs whuch were sutuated across the football fueld separa tung us somewhat from the rest of the school Our eughth grade could be descrubed as a serues of changes Thus was the year we welcomed Dr W E Fulmer as Page One Hundred FortySux our new pruncupal and Dr L C McArthur as our sup eruntendent Wuth the change un admunust atuon there were changes un many other phases of the school lufe and wuth us bug eughth graders there were changes too The gurls had persuaded theur mothers that they were old enough for lupstuck and the boys were be gunnung to fund ut duffucult to speak un one tone of vouce Then came the nunth grade' Green freshmen we were at last Now we really claumed a part of Beau fort Hugh School We had changed we were older and wuser we thought Some of us entered the excutung whurl of goung steady As far as studues were concerned we were proud also because we were able to choose two of our sublects and we dud so wuth enthusuasm duscov erung that each of us had unduvudual talents Yes upon enterung the nunth grade we felt we had taken a bug step toward the top of the ladder If only we had known the stumbles and falls that would follow Thus year we entered whole heartedly unto the Stu dent Councul prolects and other school actuvutues We wutnessed expectantly the busy buzz and hum of a new buuldung goung up Great was our excute ment as the tume drew near for us to move un as sully sophomores Tenth Grade' Now we were sophomores We stud ued and worked at our student actuvutues all the whule we consudered ourselves pretty bug wheels We were entutled to wrute storues and artucles for the TIDAL WAVE and to work on the BEAUFORTON IAN We had some real stars on the football squad NO...
