OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT , The Operations Department has had a most interesting deployment. It has been a period spent largely perfecting two previously established operational techniques, and also learning to utilize the new concepts which are constantly being introduced to todays Navy. The operations personnel are either directly or indirectly involved with every evolution the ship undertakes. For instance, few things are done aboard the ship which do not pass through Combat Information Center or Radio Central. These two stations must be manned 24 hours a day, whether in port or underway. The ship's administration, navigational, and medicalpersonnel are also in the Operations Department. And of course, there is the most popular man on the ship, the mailman. Q The cruise has been quite satisfying to the men in Operations, for this deployment has been a big test for all of them. The North ' Atlantic Cruise was a challenge met well by the men in Operations.
