Cross Country is a fall sport based mainly on the athlete's endurance and phys- ical fitness. It is one sport where the athlete plays as an individual with his goal to be better prepared to meet a hard, long challenge, and with the intention of finishing ahead of his opposition and teammates. In this sport only the first five members to finish on the same team score and the team with the lowest total number of points wins. This year Beall High's harriers made a fine showing only because of determina- tion and a will to win. They copped the Allegany County Cross Country Meet and werethe P.V.C. Meet winners. AttheState Meet, Beall tied for second place. Much praise to a team that put Beall High on top after having a team for only two years. 97 Co-Capta in Jim Duncan W.M.I.
