Training started indoors in February with exercises to increase stamina, speed and flexibility. When the weather per- mitted, the tennis teams headed for the courts hoping that practice outside would be easier than practice inside. But practice on the courts consisted of the same ex- ercises as inside plus drills, laps and stroke practicing. Coach Parker looked forward to a season with returning seniors - Beth Lake, Amy Arnold and Valerie Pharis, and juniors - Grace Clark and joan Ma- dara. In addition, promising sophomores - Tammy Strickland and Amie Sugg strengthened the team.
