5 Front Captain laye Alderman Co Capt Vaunda Pearson, Captain, Shari Haga Middle - Rose Fickle, Sherry Teague Donna Ballard Bernadette Samson Missye janney, Holley Brown, Lisa Wolfe, Pam Hibbits, Natalie Brown, joni Everett Back Sharon Burke Lisa lesberg Cari Meigs, Maria Leftwich, Iwalani Thomas, Susie Haga, Barbara Summerlin, Diana After the 1977 Marlinette Drill Team took fourth place in the state competition as well as re-capturing the Miss Drill Team of Virginia title and taking first runner-up also, the process of tryouts began. Then came summer which meant Drill Team camp and many awards for the Mar- linettes. Five girls brought home one team trophy, three individual tro- phies, and thirteen ribbons. Then team practice, home football pre- game performances, and the annual Neptune Festival parade. Spring plans include more money raising activities and competitions. Among these are the Miss Metropolitan Area Drill Team Pageant and Competi- tion in Fairfax, the National Drill Team Foundation Competition with the Miss Drill Team of Virginia title at stake at Kings' Dominion, and com- petition during the Apple. Blossom Festival in Winchester. This year's Drill Team was led by captains laye Alderman and Shari Haga andco- captain Vaunda Pearson, with the help of sponsor james jenkins.

The P.E.T.S. Club lProtecting Endangered and Troubled Spe- ciesl has lived up to its name for the second year in a row. Under the guidance of Miss Rogers, the members collected approxi- mately one hundred dollars, going to the SPCA for food for the animals. Other than major projects, the members try to help animals by reporting animal cruelty acts to the authorities. Although the members may not be engaged in a specific activity, they are always looking out for the welfare of the animals.
