A-L-M Furthers Language Proficiency Under the chairmanship of Mrs. Rodriguez, the Foreign Language department emphasized the de- velopment of four skills vitally important to the assimilation of another language, listening, compre- hending, speaking, and writing. Thus the aim of each teacher was to enhance the students' linguistic abilities through the use of the A-L-M series which has been used in the German and French curriculum and was initiated in Spanish this year. Also, BHS re- ceived two new members in this department: they were Mrs. Delgado, who taught French and Span- ish, and Mr. Narvaez, who taught German. Social Studies Department Increases Students' Awareness The Social Studies curriculum provided students with a good background in American and World History, Government, Geography, and the Social Sciences. For the first time BHS also offered the ad- vanced placement tests in these fields.
