The faculty of Bayside . . . teaching, guiding, devoting their time . . . departure of 20 teachers . . . increase of 26 in the adminis- tration . . . brand new labs found in Science Department . . . testing equipment, a lube gun used in ln- dustrial Arts . . . the math classes moved to new building. . . a proba- bility course added to the math curriculum . . -more advanced levels of foreign languages offered . . . possibility of a trip to Germany . . . hope of another language lab . . . the first shorthand lab at Bayside . . . New York Times proves useful in Social Studies Department . . . notehand dropped from Business Education courses as impractical . . . music courses expand to include Music Theory along with Music Appreciation . . . Physical Education gains more teachers . . . and another day begins.

Superintendent Cnx llelires 'fu if X Ending 34 Hear Career Devoted educator and community servant . . . began his tenure as Superintendent in 1933 . . . has witnessed construction of four new high schools . . . played vital role in im- proving teachers' salaries and bringing quality education to Virginia Beach . . . a genuine concern for pupil and teacher needs ...active in church and civic affairs.. . chosen First Citizen of the Year in 1965 by Virginia Beach Junior Chamber of Commerce . . . eager spokesman before state legislature in behalf of local educational needs . . . with his retirement an era in Virginia Beach edu- cation has ended, but through his guidance and contributions a beginning has been made-a beginning which will continue to lead to Progress. Bayside's first graduating class hears their school superintendent deliver the commencement address Telephoning is the next best thing to being therewhen lvlr. Cox's busy schedule prevents him from vrsrtrng schools frequently. Marking his last day at the school board office, lVlr. Cox chats informally with fellow employees.
