Delegates tlttenrt Bees' and Girls' State A training conference in Virginia government is held every year for out- standing students. Girls' State is held at Radford College and Boys' State at VPI. These conventions each last one week. In this week the students learn about Virginia government and they are given the opportunity to show their ovvn leader- ship abilities. Rhonda Hamilton, Valedictorian of the class ot '68, has been an outstanding student all through high school. She has been a member of Keyettes and Honor Society for three years. l. Clemens and C. lllhitscn-lliitimist ltecipients af' -lg Junior, Ted Clemons, was selected for Bayside's Scholastic Team and tapped into the National Honor Society. As S.C.A. President, he was one of the ten students chosen from Virginia to Attend the National Student Council Convention at Philadelphia. Ted was also selected to represent Bayside at the l United Nations Seminar. German Club, 5 All-Regional Chorus, and the lvladrigal Singers complete his extracurriculars. Not only did he receive Bayside's Opti- ,, mist Award, but he also was voted Tide- li' water's Most Outstanding Teenager. Carole Whitson, an active Senior, has served her class as Parliamentarian. As Chairman, she helped make Bayside's first Homecoming a success. She also represented her school at District S.C.A. Her extracurricular activities include being Secretary of Keyettes, Treasurer l of Honestate Tri-Hi-Y, and a member of the German Club and National Honor Society. Jane Whitmore, a freshman, is a member of the French Club and National Junior Honor Society. During her free bell, Jane works as an assistant in the library. Cheryl Thornton, a sophomore, supports Bayside as a member of the Pep Club. Cheryl is also an SCA representative. Kathy Whitehouse is another sophomore on the team. She is a member of the Spanish Club. Ted Clemons, a junior, is President of Bay- side's SCA. Ted is also a member of the chorus and the German Club. Chuck Wise, a junior, is inthe German Club and the ICC. He is also Vice-President of the SCA. Rhonda Hamilton, a senior, is Salutatorian of her class.
