Many of the Marlin football players received awards for their efforts on the football team for the 1967 season. The Sportsmanship Award was given to Bob Roush by Mr. Alan Evans. Jinx Meyers received the award for the Most lm- proved Player from the Dia- mond Lake Civic Club. Bauside loses ln liisl Colonial The 1967 football season began with Bayside winning its first game with a score of 13-12. The game was played at Cox before a crowd of 5,000. Bayside led off in scoring midway through the first quarter. Joe Daversa blocked a quick kick and Bon Colson recovered at the Cox ten yard line. Bay Emerson then took the ball across the line for a touchdown, but the try for the extra point failed. ln the second quarter, Cox recovered a fumble and scored from the two yard line with Wayne Werrich going over for the touchdown. The extra point was unsuccessful. Then with six minutes left in the game, Emerson ran seventy-five yards to score. The extra point was made. Cox scored again in the ending moments of the game, but Bayside blocked the extra point attempt. First Colonial player tackles J. Freeman t32i and then attempts to block M.
