O I I I 14 W The Reason for ictor So, Baylor is a place of winners . . . vic- tory. That makes for a real sense of pride, deservedly so. Pride in our school and hopefully, in ourselves. Baylor stands for so many things, and offers so much to its' students. But if all the academia and involvement were put aside, Baylor still would rise above all the rest, because of what it really stands for, why we really do have reason to feel victorious. Being a Christian, Southern Baptist University, Baylor dedicates its ideals, values, programs and supporters to the purpose of our Heavenly Father. We may not all believe the same at this in- stitution, but we all agree in one Being, who makes all things possible. Baylor encourages, in addition to mental, emo- tional and social growth, spiritual growth. Dr. Reynolds' charge to the graduating class of '86 challenged them 5 Q A to continue their spiritual growth whit either began or was cultivated at Baylc From Welcome Week on, students a. told about a relationship with Iesi Christ, and the importance and respoi sibilities of that. If one could pin dow Baylor's purpose to just one elemen one would almost assuredly say that it to show the freedom that can come wit a spiritual relationship with jesus Christ Above: Shawn Shannon, associate director of the BSU, and Alan Mackenzie help freshman Penni Pi er. Ri ht- Man classes and Bible studies are P 8 - Y held to promote personal spiritual growth. Opposite page: Debbie Wilson meditates in a prayer room. Far right: No, it's not an Arab.
