Dr. W. T. Gooch Vice President As one who has spent the greater part of his life in the shadow of Bayloris walls, I have watched with great satisfaction the growth of the school, not only in its physical plant, its faculties, its student body, and its educational standards, but in the expansion of its influence for Christian culture around the world. Her motto Pro Ecclesia, Pro Texana might now truthfully be changed to Pro Ecclesia, Pro Mundo, so world wide has become her scope. Her missionaries in the professional fields as well as in the ministry have carried forward the cause of Christ in the healing of bodies and in the saving of souls alike. May the future Baylor, grown greater in the graduate as well as the undergraduate fields, continue to utilize every opportunity for serv- ice to the church and to humanity. W. T. GOOCH Dr. M. S. Carroll Dean of the University Cordial greetings to Baylor's sons and daugh- ters of the past, present and future! Above the stone gateway of Harvard, Amer- ica's oldest university, are these words: Open ye the gates that the righteous nations which keepeth the truth may enter in. For one hundred four years Texas' oldest university, our Baylor, has swung open her vigilant gates to fostering, discovering, and to perpetuating truth. May I join each member of the Baylor family in a more intense effort to the end that the Baylor spirit may seek always to embody truth in an effort to im- prove the position of mankind of all nations. Cordially yours, MCJNROE S. CARROLL 15
