Q Pa gg ' I NE of the highlights of 1936-37 at Baylor was the convocation Nov. 21, when the oldest institution of higher learning in Texas conferred honorary degrees upon Yice-President and Mrs. john Nance Garner, marking the last major Texas Centennial celebration. Cpper left and center, Mr. and Mrs. Garner are greeted at the Circle highway junction lay a delegation headed hy President Pat Neff and a motorcycle escort. Right. guests and host walk lvetween the walls of cheering students to Memorial dormitory, where the visitors were entertained on the eve of the exercises, Next morning, arrayed in caps and gowns, two of the central figures stand at attention as the Golden Wave hand plays the national anthem before the proces- sional. Center, a shot of the marching notables, with Dr. A. Armstrong and Dean E. N. jones passing. Garner, smiling and laughing, exits with diploma. Grouped on the portico of Memorial, the official party gives the cameramen their last chance at convocation scenes.
