SUPERINTENDENT Superintendents Message: This annual has been the results of the plans of the annual staff and Mr. Caldwell. The ideas, expressions, and pictures serve as indicators of the thinking of this group. As this goes to press, appreciation is expressed for the patience, cooperativeness, and willingness of the select group who have so ably combined the pages of this year's annual. Mr. Hill This annual will serve to refresh our memories of the many pleasures and associations as well as some difficulties en- dured by the student body and teachers alike. May this book be reviewed with ever increasing pleasure as the years come and go. May those whose pictures are found herein continue to climb the stairs that lead to success and happiness, without undue difficulty. Thomas W. Hill Superintendent PRINCIPAL What have you learned? What do you expect to learn? A Large majority of what you learn in high school you will soon forget. Over 90% of the material included in tests while earning a B.A. degree is forgotten within 4 months of graduation. The question then is why learn, if most will be lost. A better question would be how to concentrate on knowledge that will not be forgotten and will be most useful to you. Two things standout as being most important to indivi- dual success. (1) Learning how to make a wise decision. (Ask you science teacher about the scientific method.) (2) The ability to make yourself do what is indicated by the decision making process you employ. In other words recognize what needs to be done and do it. Discipline yourself and no one else will be trying to do it for you. The structure and offerings of Bayfield High School most certainly offers every student the opportunity to acquire these two most important skills. Your happiness with yourself throughout life depends upon how well you master these skills. Try being exceptional rather than different. Sincerely, Mr. Martin STUDENT COUNCIL Standing: Mr. Whiteman, Pres Ludwig, Damian Duran, Jan Natzke, Mike Frary, Verna Leithauser, Steve Dunavant, Brett King, Sue McCoy, Patty Sitton, Charisse King, Paul Morjrlaon Ja£k Moore.
