PROPHECY Dear Les, I thought you might be interested to know what happened to the Senior Class that we sponsored in 1957. Do you remember what a beautifulvoiceShirley Thompson had? She has surely put it to good use. She is now a night club singer at Harold’s Club in Reno, Nevada. I went to the fights the other night at the Bayfield Stadium. Out into the ring stepped a familiar face. (In a moment the body followed.) It was Ted McKinnis now known as Jack Dempsey H. George Cooper, head Chemist of the Bayfield Chemical Laboratory, and his assistant, Marie Morrison, had dinner with me the other night. Marie had stars in her eyes but all George had was chemicals. Gene Gilbert and Elmer Powell made the first trip to Mars in a space ship that Millard Gilbert constructed in his spare time. Being prospectors and bachelors they, of course, did a little prospecting. They brought back some lovely specimens of red gold. They plan to make a return trip as soon as the class reunion is over. Now a little more about Millard. He is one of the greatest jet mechanics that has ever been known. As in the old days he goes at it slow and lazy but as usual everything comes out perfect. Two people have taken leave of these wonderful United States; Steve Law went back to his old homeland, Alaska. Wonder of all wonders. Do you know what the boy did? He built a bridge across Bering Strait that will provide an intra-continental highway. Sam Hickman is ambassador to the deepest, darkest, Africa.1 heard he is married toa lovely little head hunter. Just guess who has your old job? Sandra McVicker!!! She teaches commercial subjects in Bayfield High SchooL You should see the admiring glances she gets from those young sprouts. Wyoma (Randall) Richards and Tiodorita (Ulibarri) Lucero were happily raising their own little families, when suddenly they decided they liked children so well they now are running a nursery in Silvertoa They have around 100 children in their little home. We even have a preacher in our midst. Jim Thomas is preaching in the Bayfield Church. I have been to services there and he preaches quite well. La Vina Wommer finally got her rich cattleman. He was originally from Texas but moved up and took over the Wommer Estate. They have a private plane besides 3 or 4 cars. She is still the same old LaVina though. Goes out and rides a horse from morning till night and comes in looking like a bum. Dorothy Frost also lives on a cattle ranch. She is queen of the King Ranch. She owns so many thoroughbreds that she told me even she doesn’t know the number. Her husband. King of the King Ranch, is Gary Amon. They havequite a large ranch so Gary made him a private drag strip. He is helping to cure the juvenile delinquency, you know, by keeping the teen-agers off the high- ways. Betty Graves really made a name for herself during the last war. World War m She became famous as a surgeon. She joined the Wacs and spent her time in the Pacific Islands curing the soldiers of lovesickness and radiation poisoning. Alice Groves is now chief of the Southern Ute Nation. She is the first woman chief. She just returned as a representative of the Utes to the President. Well, Les, that is all the Seniors so guess I had better close. We will be happy to see you at the class reunion in May, 1967, a little over three months from now. Yours truly. Sybil Short
