Tommy Heard went to Aztec, New Mexico. Patsy Jean Hollar and Jewel Knight also left this year. In the second grade our teacher was Mrs. Mohney. Allene Davis entered from Pargin. Ross Small, Jannith Baird, and Robert Luthi entered only for a short time. Betty Carpenter, Helen Rodriquez, and Ted Salazar entered this year. One year was behind us; anyway, that’s what we thought then. The third grade was really a mixed up year. Mrs. Knickerbocker, Mrs. Small, Mrs. Butler, Mrs. Walker, and Mrs. James all had a turn at teaching us this year. Wanda Peterson entered from Marvel. Seven were promoted to the fourth grade this year: Wanda Peterson, Wayne Martin, Myrtle Harris, Gordon Powell, David Percell, Romona Tanner, and Sandra Carmack. Johnny Cavender entered by promotion from the second grade. Louis Carter and Emily Gist entered for a short time, then left. Donna Lee Parks, Layola Martinez, Ted Salazar, and Kathleen Berry left this year. The third and fourth grade were together, and we studied nearly everything the fourth grade did. Mrs. Ostwald taught us this next year. Gary Harper entered from Kansas; Janet Wells, from Pinion Grove; Terry Neal, from California; and Barbara Hayden, from New Mexico. Cecil Leyshon went to Durango. Ben Lyall left at the end of the year. This was a fairly easy year. In the fifth grade our teacher was Mrs. Louise Short. Jewel and Bert Monger and Stanley and Jeanne Snooks entered from Pargin. Jimmy Temple entered from Roswell, New Mexico. Helen Rodriquez went to Ignacio. We were upstairs in the gym this year, the first class to be held there. This is the year we tried to learn our states and capitals. In the sixth grade our teacher was Mrs. Parks. Helen Gedney entered from Los Angeles, and Tressa Dye entered from Moss, but they stayed only a short time. Ray Cundiff entered from Ben Springs, Shirley Chadd from Cahone, Betty Lou Tate from Columbus, and David Phelps entered from Allison. Robert Luthi and Ben Lyall entered this year. Betty Carpenter went to Pagosa, and Barbara Hayden went to New Mexico. School buses arrived this year. What a relief! No more walking or riding horseback to get to school! Mrs. Parks taught us in the seventh. Dianne Withers entered from Kansas, and Barbara Hayden entered from New Mexico, but stayed only a short time. George Dodson entered from Hagerman, New Mexico. Betty Lou Tate went to Blanca, Colorado, and Gary Harper went to Kansas. Mrs. Crowell was our teacher in the eighth grade. Tressa Dye entered from Moss for only a short time. Mathew Bigham went to California at the end of the first semester. Ben Lyall went to Pagosa, and George Dodson went to Lovington, New Mexico, at the end of the year. We finally made it to High School. F ortunately all of us lived through initiation. Mathew Bigham entered from California. Brad Newton entered from Carlsbad, New Mexico. Douglas Blackmore entered from Silverton, but returned at the end of this year. Janet Wells went to Cedarville, California, at the end of the year. The next year we had our turn at giving the freshmen a bad time. Roy Farren, Edward Harms, David Ketchem, and Jerry Coomes entered for a short time, then left. Terry Neal went to California. Layola Martinez entered for a short time. We finally became Juniors, and started thinking of the Banquet and Prom. Our Junior Class play, ’’Brides to Burn”, was a success even though it was storming. Nina Krukenmeier and Jimmy Thomas entered this year. Brad Newton joined the navy at the end of the year. Shirley Chadd went to California to get married. This, our last year, Carol Murphy entered from Durango. Seniors now, we are looking forward to graduation. We are also looking forward to our senior sneak. Our senior play will be The Blundering Herd.” Stanley Morrison started and finished at Bayfield, and Mathew Bigham missed only one semester. Connie Weddle also missed only one semester as she went her first semester, of her first grade year in Pueblo. PROPHECY As we look into the future, it is 1966 and we see Jeanne (Brains) Snooks being a Home Economics teacher at the Betty Crocker Over-Oven School besides being home mother at the Flip-Over Dormitory. Allene (Sea-Going) Davis is trying out her new jet-propelled speed boat in the Pacific in search of those distant sailois!!! Jim (Shorty) Temple and Stanley (Flat-Foot) Snooks are now playing basketball for the Big Bears in the Little League which tonight will try to beat the Ridge Runners of Oak wood School. Connie (Starry-Eyed) Weddle has now taken over her father's business, raising chinchillas, and is living in Hollywood where she will star them in This Couldn't Be Your Pet. Jewel (Spooks) Monger and Mathew ( Tex ) Bigham are raising Large and Small Economy Size Cattle on a B---I—G” ranch way down in Texas. ( Ya1 All Come! ! ) Ray (Tiny) Cundiff is coaching football for the Great Midget Team! ! of that bet- ter know town of Eastern Bayfield. Stanley (Curly) Morrison is trying out his new experiment of seeing how fast a car can go backwards on two wheels! He's planning on making millions. (Rich Boy!!!) Bert (Butter-Fingers) Monger is now driving the Great Bayfield Exchange Lines. If you want a great ride from Bayfield to the Great City (City?) of LaBoca where his lines run, don't miss riding on his bus. Nina (Chubby)Krukenmeier is now running the Wells Fargo Bar in Tumble Brush Creek. It seems she does all the work while the Mr. counts the money! (Smart Guy!!!) Carol (Money-Bags) Murphy, running Randy's Mercury factory, is doing quite well but she prefers the Cadillac which is more expensive. (But business is business and money is where you find it.) i. sMaJrfLo (Mathew Bigham) , will my ability to shoot spit wads to Ted McKinnis-- more protection for Ted. , will my football playing ability to Bill Penn and my my high grades to George Cooper.
