Pacific Fleet was reorganized, Commander Transport Division FIFTEEN was redesignated Commander Amphibious Squadron SEVEN, thus forming one of the four amphibious squadrons of the Pacific Fleet. I The ,ships in the squadron were built during World War ll and have seen war time action throughout the world, from the landings North Africa in 1942. to the assault on Okinawa in the spring of 1945. 1th the outbreak of hostilities in Korea in 1950, squadron ships were again called to participate in this campaign. The squadron carries many battle stars earned landing it's boats over the beaches of these campaigns. Since the formation of the squadron, many exercises have been conducted to sharpen the ability to conduct amphibious warfare.f The use of the Amphibious Force has allowed the U. S. to apply the right amount of military force for any situation in the cold war struggle. Since World War ll there have been 22 incidents in which the United States was compelled to use military force. In each of these actions, the amphibious forces played a major or supporting role, and in many instances, was the only force used.
