The bus arrived at 4:30 and they were on their way to Medicine Bow. Wyoming. With a quick stop for breakfast in Cheyenne, Wyoming at 7:00, they were filled with energy ready to hit the slopes. They arrived at Medicine Bow at approximately 9:00 and unloaded themselves. Everyone checked out skiing equipment and attempted what seemed to be the impossible. After a long hard day. they climbed on the bus ready to head out at 4:00. but because of a slight delay, (The bus got stuck!) they didn't get out until 5:00. They stopped at Denny’s in Cheyenne for supper at 7:30 and took off for home. Everyone was happy to be home at 10:30 so that they could catch up on some of the sleep they had missed the night before. The Seniors only major mishap this bus problem. 16 Senior Class of 1982 poses with pride after a long hard day at the slopes. R. The 1981 football season was far better than expected due to heavy graduation loss from the year before. Two of the four losses suffered during the season were to teams which made the State Play-Offs. The Tigers finished their season with a 5-4 record. This team gave 100% effort durning the season and represented themselves and their school very admirably, commented the Head Coach, Mr. Begley. The following Tiger players received outstanding honors: Randy Randall received NPV, Scottsbluff Star Herald All-Region team, Jeff Krantz received NPV, Scottsbluff Star Herald All-Region team, Curtis Sanchez received NPV, and Second Team All-Region, and Tim Rector received NPV. O'Neal The 1981-82 Volleyball team had one of the most enjoyable seasons as they improved their record from 1-14, last year to 13-7 for this year. The basic key to this turn around was the sound fundamentals of the team. The hard work paid off as the team took second in the Bridgeport Tournaments, First in the Melbeta Tournaments. First in the Bayard Tournaments. A couple more of the memorable moments for the team were beating the state rated Class B Gering Bulldogs and also defeating the Class B Mitchell Tigers in two straight sets. The team will lose two seniors, but with the depth of the team, they will not have a thing to worry about. So when you talk winning volleyball. I’m sure you will be talking Bayard. J.V.'s Wind up an 11-3 record for 81-82, The 1981-82 Junior Varsity team ended their season with a 11-3 record. The only teams that defeated the Tigers were Mitchell. Kimball, and Morrill. The teams key to this super record was their devastating defense that only allowed the opponents to score an average of 42 points a game, while the Tigers rounded out 55 points a game. This has been a special year for the team as it was the first time Bayard had defeated Grant in a reserve game. 60-53. Overall, the Tigers had a very exciting season. Junior Varsity: (sitting L R) B. In Choir, people think that if yoy have a big choir, the work isn't very hard, you can just sing and everything will go together. But, little do they know how much more work a big choir has to put in. This year Bayard High had approximately 105 students out for choir. Therefore, the group had to work harder than it ever has before, because they knew people would really be expecting something, since there were so many voices to put out the pieces chosen for contests. This took alot of hard work and dedication from the students and Miss Arther, as she had to direct the choir, and watch for mistakes that could hurt the choir in competition. Well, she must have done a pretty good job at that, because BHS came home NPV champions for the 16th straight year. The pieces chosen for NPV were, Sing Alleluia Sing, by Julie Knowles, and Kyrie by Haydn. The choir also recieved a It at the District Music Contest. The 21st Century Singers also had a very good year as they performed for a number of groups and area schools. The group recieved a first place at the Class B High Plains Swing Choir Clinic and they also recieved a I a at the District contest. The Freshman Sophomore group. Unswing were also able to show their talent as they performed for area country schools and for other groups as well. So, all in all one could say that BHS had a very good year in the music department. Officers: J. Smith. Librarian. R. Randall. President, C. Sanchez. Vice-President. L. Myers, Secretary. J.
