MR. CHRISTIAN First, I should like to congratulate the class upon the many fine achievements of the past four years and also upon this fine annual or yearbook. This is an excellent record and will serve to create for time immemorial a picture of the Bayard High. As a final parting word, permit me to admonish each class member upon the following: Continue your education — although it need not be formal Continue to recognize and hold a high place in your daily lives for the moral and spiritual values Continue to serve for community or society betterment — be a good citizen Be mindful and appreciate your rich heritage — including your opportunity for a high school education. And finally, hard work has its reward. May I conclude my remarks with the following poem by R. L. Sharpe — as a challenae to each class member. STUMBLING-BLOCK OR STEPPING-STONE Each is given a bag of tools, A shapeless mass, A book of rules: And each must make, Ere life is flown, A stumbling-block or a stepping-stone. My sincere congratulations to all of the students of Bayard City School. My highest ambition is to guide youth in their best personal growth, and help them to develop their talents to the highest level of achievement. To attain this high goal one must have the following: 1. Courage and hope 2. Wisdom 3. Ambition and good habits 4. Knowledge and usefulness 5. Honesty and truth 6. Healthfulness and cleanliness 7. Helpfulness and unselfishness 8. Faith and responsibility 9. Respect for all fellow men 10. Manners and judgment. 3 MR. CHASE
