Fricke, Sr. Class History In the fall of 1951, there was a group of forty-nine uncertain students who began their long journey through high school. Mr. Butts was chosen os sponsor. We chose Mary Richter as our President, Jane Feather, Vice President, Myrna Rice, Secretary, and Larry Kamerzell, Treasurer. Fannie Verges, Jo Anne Schneider, and Larry Fricke represented us in Student Council. The next fall we returned to school with renewed energy, ready to resume our education. For our class sponsor we chose Mr. Knepper. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond were chosen as class parents. Jo Anne Schneider was elected as President, Larry Fricke, Vice President, Lawrence Sanchez, Secretary, and Loretta Huber, Treasurer. Mary Richter, Eleanore Reifschneider, and Myrna Rice were elected for Student Council representatives. We came back to school as juniors, realizing we had a big year ahead of us. With this thought in mind, we chose the following officers: Larry Fricke, President, Don Burge, Vice President, Doris Schledewitz, Secretary, and Leonard Weber, Treasurer. To represent us in Student Council, we chose Diana Raymond, Myrna Rice, and Mary Richter. Angelo Karampelas was elected Student Council Vice President. We chose Mr. and Mrs. Raymond for our class parents. Mrs. Seibenaler and Mr. Guy were elected for our class sponsors. During football season, Eleanore Reifschneider was crowned our 1953 football queen. When the time finally arrived, we chose a comedy, “No More Homework,” for our play and “Hawaiian Sunset” as our theme for the prom. In May, some of our classmates received the highest honor a student can attain—membership into the National Honor Society. In an assembly full of suspense, Eleanore Reifschneider, Myrna Rice and Diana Raymond were tapped. We assembled for our final year in 1954. As class officers we elected Don Burge, President; Leonard Weber, Vice President; Diana Raymond, Secretary; Bill Schlaepfer, Treasurer. Pat Smith, Angelo Karampelas, President; Myrna Rice, Secretary; Tracy Nelson, and Dorothy Lundgren represented us in Student Council. We chose as our class sponsors, Mrs. Cruise and Mr. Guy. Our class parents were Mr. and Mrs. Fricke. We began the tremendous task of producing the TIGER. In November, 1954, Diana Raymond was crowned as football queen. In January, Judy Nelson was elected to represent Bayard High as DAR representative. We chose the orchid as the class flower and lavender and white were chosen for our class colors. We still have many things to look forward to—our Senior play, sneak day, the Junior-Senior Prom, class night, and finally graduation. We leave our high school days behind with our motto, “We cannot hold a torch to light another’s path without brightening our own,” foremost in our minds. Bayard High School Scoreclock An addition to the gridiron this season was the new scoreboard. At the close of the 1953 football season, the Lions Club promoted the buying of the scoreboard, estimated at approximately $1500, not including the installation and transportation. Many organizations in Bayard High contributed to this fund. Contributions were also collected from many of the townspeople. Although Bayard had never before known the pleasure of having a scoreboard as we now have, it has proved to be a great asset to Bayard and surrounding areas.
