BAYARD HIGH SCHOOL BAYARD, NEBRASKA 2 The Senior Class wishes to dedicate this Tiger of '49 to Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Henrichsen in appreciation of their constant efforts, as our Class Parents, to guide and understand us. 3 m emoriam Floyd Michal, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Michal, was bom on June 6, 1930. He began school in Bayard with the members of this years graduating class. Although Floyd was a quiet sort of boy, he took interest in many school activities. He made many friends and was a conscientious student. In his freshman year he was stricken with infantile paralysis. Although this dread disease took his life, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all those who knew him. It is to his memory the seniors, his classmates, dedicate this page of the Tiger of 49. C. E. Are the four years of hardship, laughter, and much play over? Yes, we have reached the goal which ends our high school days at good old Bayard High. We, the green freshmen of Bayard High getting into the swing of our forthcoming high school days, elected our freshman leaders. Alvinia Mohr was elected president; Vera Fritzler, vice-president; Marion Kniss, secretary; and Eleanor Monkman, treasurer. Our capable sponsor was Miss Margaret Stephens. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Heyl were chosen as our class parents. As sophomores we ventured on to our goal of high achievement and success. Though some had left our ranks, we still had a much able body from which to choose our leaders. Jack Nerud was elected president; Victor Schaaf, vice-president; Richard Bangert, treasurer; and Robert Kramer, secretary. Mr. Fricke was our sponsor the first semester and Jack Wier was our sponsor the second semester. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Heyl again came to our side as class parents. When, as juniors, we came back to Bayard High, we elected Dean Henrichsen as president; Richard Bangert, vice-president; Lyle Chambers, secretary; and Robert Heyl, treasurer. Jack Nerud was chosen as our student council representative. This year, our sponsor was Mr. Harold Henriksen. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Henrichsen stood by us as our class parents. Then our biggest job arose and we honored the seniors of 48 with the traditional banquet and prom. It was a Spanish banquet complete with every Spanish custom. In the fall of 1948 we came back to our best year, yet it was a sad year. Our last in old Bayard Hiqh. The officers for our remaining year were elected. Ernie Heine, president; Gus Liakos, vice-president; Wilfred Hunt, treasurer; and Robert Heyl, secretary. Jack Nerud was elected as our student council representative. Again Mr. Henriksen rose to the job of sponsor to help guide us in our last year in Bayard High. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Henrichsen were again chosen as our class parents. Now we pass through the portals of Bayard High School, never aqain to return as students. We will always look back on our school days in dear old Bayard High and cherish those memories deep in our heart.  RICHARD BANGERT Class Treasurer 2; Class Vice-President 3: B Club 2-3-4; Football I-2-3-4; Basketball I-2-3-4; State Track Meet 3; Athletic Letter 3; Chorus 1-3; Vocal Clinic 3; Sandburr Staff 4; Annual Staff 4.
