The National Honor Society was founded in 1921 to promote scholarship, service, leadership and character among the students of the accredited high schools of America. Twenty years ago Chimney Rock Chapter Number 755 was chartered and has been active ever since. Candidates are selected from the senior class and must rank in the upper third of the class. Not over fifteen per cent of the class membership may be chosen. The faculty of the high school elects the members according to above regulations. During the first semester the class was divided into four groups which took turns in assembling the news for the paper. In addition to the regular weekly printed Sandburr the class puts out a mimeographed edition each six weeks. Dolores Varela is the editor, and Ruby Brinkman is the assistant editor. —15—
