WE THE SENIORS As our high school career draws to a close, we, the Seniors of 1947, recollect the past years of our high school days in Bayard High. In the autumn of 1943 exactly one-hundred timid freshmen enrolled. The first several days of this new life struck us as being an initiation into this institution because we were shy, unacquainted, and quite perplexed in general. The officers elected to supervise our class for this beginning year were: Charles Wimmer—President; Tommy Couch— Vice-president; Leland Keil—Secretary; and Ernest Nuss— Treasurer. Mr. Beers was our Sponsor, and Mrs. Dummitt was chosen Class Mother. Many members of this group showed promise of becoming excellent athletes and outstanding students. We advanced a step—now we were sophomores. Bill Pullen served as President; Bob Dummitt—Vice-President; Lorene Kleim—Secretary; Dick Beltner—Treasurer; and Verna Blackburn—Student Council Representative. Mrs. Jim Wimmer was our Class Mother and Miss Margaret Stephens, Class Sponsor. At long last we held the distinction of being Juniors! This was a thrilling year as many exciting events occurred. After fatiguing hours of rehearsals, which we never-the less enjoyed, the class play Cash and Carrie was presented on January 9. The Junior-Senior Banquet was a celebrated occasion held on April 26 at the high school gymnasium, the motif being April Showers. Our class rings also became one of our most-prized possessions.

WE THE SENIORS (Continued) With our new Co-Sponsors, Mr. Franklin and Mrs. Swindel, we elected officers for the year of '45-'46. President—Dick Belt-ner; Vice-president—Lorene Kleim; Secretary- Bill Hageman; Treasurer—Werner Kramer; and Class Mothers—Mrs. Jim Wimmer. Seniors and HOW! The long awaited year had finally come and now we were the privileged class. We welcomed Jimmy Pringle, James Hughes, Ralph Le-vick, and Bob Reiber back into our class. We are proud of Don Perrin, Allen Chambers, James Dalby, and Rodrigo Varela, who were fellow students and are now serving in the Armed Forces. Naturally, we published the Sandburr and planned the annual which required considerable time and effort on our part. This last year our class officers were: Caroline Eirich— President; Verna Blackburn—Vice-president; Ralph Levick— Secretary; and Patsy Perrin—Treasurer. Mrs. Wimmer was again Class Mother, and Mr. Young and Mrs. Raymond were our very efficient Sponsors. Dick Beltner was selected as President of the Student Council and Caroline Eirich as Representative. The members of our class receiving the distinguished National Honor Society Award were Caroline Eirich, Dick Beltner, Lorene Kleim, Bob Dummitt, Josephine Ensser, Werner Kramer, Verna Blackburn, and Clyde Spangler. The forty-eight members of our class will soon be separated, each individual choosing the field of work he feels capable of mastering on the road of life.
