Record for 1933 Bayard enjoyed a very successful season, under the leadership of Coach Voting and Captain Wright. When the season ended, Bayard had won 6 games and lost only 2. 1 he most outstanding victory was the 1.3-0 victory scored against Min-atare on Thanksgiving day. In this manner Bayard closed one of the most successful seasons in a number of years. Cecil Suit won recognition on Harry Ckelele’s All-Western team at end and Dave Schwartz at guard. On the official team. Dale Wright was placed at tackle, and Ross Putman at end. The season’s record: Morrill 7 . . . Bayard 12 Alliance 38 . . . Bayard 0 Dalton 0 . . . The 1933 basketball season rolled around with five lettermen back: (’apt. Stewart, Putman, Strizek, B. Meredith and Taylor. Coach Young had high hopes for a winning team. Bayard took the lead in the Western Conference, and held it nearly all season, a nd as a result they went into a tie for first place, together with Minatare and Alliance. This was their second conference championship in two years. At the Western Nebraska District Tournament held at Mitchell on March 16-17-18, Bayard won the right to represent Western Nebraska at Lincoln by defeating Mitchell in the final game by a score of 18-14. At the State Tourney. Bayard was eliminated in the first round by Falls City, 32-9. Bayard placed two men on the All-Western team. Stewart at forward on the first team and Putman at guard on the second team. Three of Bayard’s men were placed on the All-Tournament team: Strizek. forward: Taylor, center, and Putman, guard.
