The Foreign Language Club carries on a very busy program throughout the year. Along with the regular meetings, election of officers, and guest speaker, the club sponsors a banquet, which fits in with the festive activities around Christmas- time. This event consists of a delicious dinner, fol- lowed by a distinguished guest speaker who is generally a person visiting the United States from a foreign country. The requirements for membership in the For- eign Language Club are exacting but not selec- tive. Any boy or girl who is a student of German, Spanish, Latin, or French is eligible. The election of officers is carried on in the respective sections, and two representatives are selected from each group. The members of each section vote among themselves for the offices they are to hold, and retain that position for a semester, with the excep- tion of the S.G.A. representative, who holds his office throughout the entire year. The main purposes of Foreign Language Club are to further understanding of the language and country involved and to extend to the students a more cultural and democratic background.
