WELL, AS YOU ALL KNOW BY NOW, WE ARRIVED OFF THE COAST OF SOUTH VIETNAIVI THIS IVIORNING. WE'RE SCHEDULED TO STAY HERE ON THE GUNLINE FOR ANOTHER SEVENTEEN WEEKS AND THEN PUT IN TO DANANG FOR A WELL DESERVED AFTERNOON OF PICKING UP NIAIL AND NIEDEVACING OUR CASUALTIES FROIVI THAT LAST 200 CASES OF HAWAIIAN PUNCH. HOWEVER, WE CAN EXPECT TO DO OUITE A BIT OF H AND I, PUTTING OUT ABOUT FORTY TO FIFTY THOUSAND ROUNDS A NIGHT. SO THAT IVIEANS WE CAN EXPECT TO BE UNREPPING JUST ABOUT EVERY DAY ALTHOUGH WE WILL TRY TO KEEP THEIVI EITHER DURING CHOW OR AFTER SHIP'S WORK. THAT'S JUST ABOUT ALL I HAVE ..... ALTHOUGH WE PROBABLY WON'T GET TO STAY HERE AT POINT GERTRUDE FOR THE WHOLE TINIE, WE'VE RECEIVED MESSAGES THAT THE TENIPO OF OPS HAS BEEN PRETTY SLOW, WITH ONLY A FEW MISSIONS BEING SPOTTED BY THE PEOPLE ON THE BEACH. OUR AIRSPOTTERS TELL US INTELLIGENCE REPORTS IN- DICATE THAT THERE IS A TREE STILL STANDING SOIVIEWHERE IN IVIR 1 AND HE'LL BE ON THE LOOK- OUT. OH YES, OUR BOSS DOWN HERE, 78.3.2.7.4.'I.6 HAS COME OUT WITH A MESSAGE CONGRATULATING US ON THE SUCCESS OF OUR LAST LINEBACKER STRIKE, ON THAT SHOWER SHOE FACTORY. l'LL JUST READ YOU A FEW OF THE HIGHPOINTS. NOT SINCE THE BATTLE OF MIDWAY HAS THERE BEEN SUCH A COURAGEOUS EX- ECUTION OF A CRITICAL GAMBLE TO PRESERVE WESTERN CIVILIZATION AND BELIEVE ME ALL OF US BACK HERE AT PORT CONTROL IN SUBIC ARE BEHIND YOU IOOOCXL GOOD LUCK AND GOOD HUNTING. AND IT IS SIGNED SCH LABOTNIK. I I I NEW SUBJECT. IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT A RUMOR IS SPREADING THAT THE STRAIN OF THESE LAST FORTY DAYS AT SEA IS BEGINNING TO TELL ON NIE. ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT IT IS COM- PLETELY UNTRUE. AS FOR YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT ALL THE SHIP'S KEYS, THEY WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU AS SOON AS I FIND THE DUPLICATE TO THE WARDROOM PANTRY. AND THAT'S JUST ABOUT IT ..... THAT'S ABOUT ALL THE DOPE I HAVE ..... THERE REALLY HASN'T BEEN VERY MUCH ..... AS I SAID BEFORE THE WEATHER TONIGHT SHOULD BE MOSTLY DARK AND TOMORROW WILL BE ABOUT THE SAME WITH THE INCREASING POSSIBILITY THAT IT WILL BE DIFFERENT BUT, OF COURSE, HERE ON THE GUNLINE NOTHING IS CER- TAIN. THAT'S JUST ABOUT IT ..... NOTHING MUCH HAS BEEN HAPPENING ..... THAT JUST ABOUT covERS EVERYTHING .......... THAT IS ALL.
