Mills - a hard Working, dedicated teacher of SCHOOL LIFE Fun In The Summe1't1me The doors reopened - Summer School 1984. Three days after the close of the regular season of school, summer school was in session. It was a need - it was a choice. The long hot summer stretched longer for those who were in by 7:00a.m. and out by 1:00p.m. Classes were 3 hours long and breaks were Hfteen minutes long. Two longer breaks that ga ve students and teachers a reprieve were the Fourth of July and Water Festi- val celebrations. The festival was an annual event held at the Waterfront. Flea markets, parachute jumps, air shows, Ronald McDonald, cotton candy, cokes, hotdogs and us - great fun lincluding sum- mer schoolj in the summertime. l J. Girls Having Fun One ofthe nicest highlights of the school term was the pageant for the crowning of Miss BCHS. This was the pag- eant open to all senior girls who wished to compete in the talent, swim wear and evening gown competitions. This years theme was the overall feelings of all the girls who competed e Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. After long and strenuous rehearsals, the big day arrived --f October 13, 1984. That afternoon, the class queens had been an- nounced and the big moment was at hand. The stu- dents selected the final list through popular vote and the football players elected the Queen. At the close of the halftime events, Sylvia Doe had been crowned Homecoming Queen for the 1984-85 school term. Junior class queen Adrieene Smith First runner up Debbie Cooper and escort Kenneth Brown. Sophomore class queen Paula Doe and Senior Class queen Sharon Prior. Poster and hanner vontests were held: doors were devorated, a 'lttnerf al'tor the plot-ked eagle and a eulogy read. Friday night we did not suvceed i11 removing all feathers from the Ea- gle. but the Spirit and the rivalry made tor a great week and a great game.
