SEAL Team 8 Naval Special Warfare is an echelon III command responsible for the operational and or administrative control of seven componet commands conducting special operations mission. TACRON Tactical Air Control Squadron TWENTY-ONE is based on the Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek. As the Amphibious Squadron Commander ' s Air Operations staff, the TACRON is involved in every aspect of amphibious air operations. TACRON plays a critical role in controlling and coordinating close-air support to forces ashore, air defense of the Amphibious Task Force, ship-to-shore troop movement and air borne medical evacuations. TACRON was involved in the operational planning for the Amphibious Task Force and was responsible for airspace management and control, as well as general coordination of operations in High-Density Air Control Zones (HIDACZ) and other assigned airspace.
