Under the direction of the charming and talented Miss Grace Laing the three hundred students in the Song Shop have opportunities to ex- press their love of music. Building a repertoire of diversified melodies the chorus opened its season with a thrilling program at the Christmas Assembly, The next musical per- formance was the Green and White Revue which con- sisted of talent found in the music classes. The annual Spring Concert taking place in April provided further opportunities to give our school an impressive show. During the winter many of the chorus members enjoyed the trip to the Metropolitan Opera House to see The Magic Fizzle. Throughout the year the members of the Song Shop have heard records of their own singing as well as those of professional stars. RACKET B STERS Tennis Team Any day after school from September to November or from April to June you may hear the soft, Whack, whack, of racquets as the tennis team practices at the Laurel Courts. Too few people know what an excellent tennis team we really have. Last year the team played thirteen games, winning ten and tying one. The team was county champion last year, having held this position several times in the past. The reason for this excellent record, aside from spirit, of course, lies partly in the hard practice that was necessary to get the team into shape and partly in the skillful direction of Mr. Charles Carr, the coach. During the season, the boys practice every afternoon until five p.m., and often on holidays. The Tennis Team deserves much credit for the fine record they made last year. hill TENNIS SCHEDULE - 1950 SEASON Bassick 5 Portland 2 Bassick 3 Norwalk 4 Bassick 5 Fairfield 2 Bassick 3 Central 2 Bassick 4 Stamford 3 Bassick 4 .Westport 1 Bassick 716 .. ,.....
