GREEN XVHITE BEAT MAROON WHITE A powerful Basstck football squad scored a 6 0 v1ctory over its traditional opening game opponent Milford High on the Roger Ludlowe F1eld tEven out home games had to be played away in Fairfield J june 13 1947 KAPJ CLASS ORGANIZES This morntng the Class of 1949 met for the tirst time as an organized group Bob Wol lert recently elected president offictated and 1ntroduced the other oHicers Joyce Stanley vice president Mary Lou Keegan secretary Danny Olah treasurer jean Johnson and Dick Kish co directors of social activities fOur class set a precedent and succeeding groups have continued to elect a boy and girl as co directors of social activities J 197 18 Sept 23 1947 KINSJ CLASS OF 1949 OPENS JUNIOR YEAR WITH ASSEMBLY Gone were the looks of bewtlderment and expectation Dates of social activities and pre llmmary plans for the coming year were announced Feb 13 1948 IUPI JUNIOR GIRLS SERVE TEA The Bassick High School Library was the scene th1s afternoon of that brilliant social affair of the Class of 49 the Iunlor Mothers Tea Despite the snow and ice many mothers attended and chatter flew thick and fast about all the johnntes and Marys fMaybe its lust as well we weren t there to listen J March 12 1948 CAP? THE FLEETS IN Today the S S Barrzcb docked at the Ritz Pter and under the able leadership of Captain Ruth Kresge launched the annual unror Dance The whole theme was carried out ln Navy style fRemember Ronald Karvosky who prped the guests aboard all the nautical decorations at the Ritz and the dtstrtbution of the l1fe savers at the end of the even1ng7 It all comes back to me now 7 April 6 1948 CUP1 FUN AND FASHIONS FOR GIRLS The Bassrck gym was the scene of that yearly occasion All Girls Day Highlights of the program included a Fashton Show put on by the tumor girls cheers and songs and of course games rn which the yuniors placed second tThe only male present was the P011 photographer but we were glad to let him in D May 26 1948 KUPJ joe Godkm who succeeded Bob Wollert as pres1dent today led the class in the final meeting as juniors During the assembly oe introduced the officers of the commg year which will be the senior year of the Class of 1949 president Dan Olah vice president oyce Stanley secretary joy Lindholm social directors Mary Lou Keegan and Phll Ness treasurer Tom Hamilton Entertainment was provided by Gert Golger Elsie Cocco and Dotlta Atkins QTwo down and one to go J 194 1949 Sept 18 1948 CAPD SENIORS VISIT WEST POINT At 7 10 a m 210 Sleepy 49ers departed by bus for New York City where they boarded the Alexander Hamzlton for a scenic trip up the Hudson to West Point After watching the dress parade they spent the rest of the afternoon in browsing through the grounds and buildings CRemember the downpout while we were at the Inn in Bear Mountarn State Park and Chxck Mntchells acting out cheers and songs between the rain drops9J Nov 25 1948 KINSJ TRUCE DECLARED Inter scholast1c rivalry was set aside while the students of Faxrfield and Basstck partrci 20 4 , S A 4.
