John L. Townley Commander, U.S. Navy COMM DI GOFFICER Commander John L. Townley was commissioned in 1954 upon graduation from the Regular NROTC Program at UCLA. He has served at sea in the Weapons and Operations Departments of the USS HOLLISTER CDD 7881, as Executive Officer of the USS TERRELL COUNTY CLST 11571 and the USS ROBERT K. HUNTINGTON HDD 7811 and as Commanding Officer, USS COURTNEY KDE 10211. Commander Town1ey's duty ashore has been as Weapons Instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy, Data Processing Supervisor at the Bureau of Naval Personnel and as Executive Officer to the Chief of Staff, Headquarters, U.S. European Command. He is a graduate of the School of Command and Staff and the School of Naval Warfare at the Naval War College, and is a graduate of the Air War College Associate Program. He received his Master of Science Degree from George Washington University in 1965.
