EIJL1 BC 1970 BASIC HIGH SCHOOL HENDERSON, NEVADA Mike Weller Arthur Luke Purcell IN MEMORIAM The goodness of their thoughts and deeds Lives on within our memories, For they were great, as we all know, A greatness found in heart and soul. Itis true, their life on earth is done, But they now live with God and Son, And we, though 0ft times selfish, yet receive The bounty of their thoughts and deeds. Their part on earth is oyer and thru Yet there'll remain for me and you A special place within our hearts, Fond memories that neier will part. e Tracy Walker FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION The instructional methods and equipment that we have known so well shall be aban- doned and replaced by more advanced tech- niques. The LONE WOLF, which took on a new look this year with commercial printing, wishes to inform and amuse Basids student body and is proud when that wish is fulfilled. If we do this, our purpose has been meaningful and our efforts worthwhile. The staff wishes to extend a special thanks to our fearless leader, Mrs. JoAnn McDaniel, without whom our mornings would have been incomplete. Her long hours of unselfish dedication were greatly appreciated. Girls State On June 14, Jan, Tia, Pam and Janet left for Stead Air Force Base near Reno, Nevada to attend Girls, State for six days. We had a very exciting and eventful week where such things happened as a trip to the Gov- ernorhs mansion, and a computer building where 18 girls, along with us, got stuck in a ten-capacity elevator for 20 minutes, and then Tia and Janet missed the bus and got left. We met Senator Gibson and our two assemblymen, Art Espinoza and Hal Smith at the State Capitol. Tia also escorted Governor Laxalt at our meeting of Legislators. The night before going home we had a very success- ful talent show that starred hTiny Tim,,. 66 Look what Girls, State does for you! Scott Freddy greets Governor Laxult. Boys, State The six days at Boysy State were filled with action for the guys representing Basie High School, The first three days were entirely devoted to setting up city, county, and then state governments There were al- ways elections going on somewhere to elect somebody to some office. Since there were six divisions of the 180 representa- tives, a few of the Basic delegates had to he put in the same group Wendell Royal and Steve Alires were grouped together, as were Bill and Doug They soon showed the Boys' State counselors what a mistake they had made, All things considered, it was a worthwhile experience. 67 wx :xgznam? .3 WWW, m x. . We have tried to present the people and the highlights of our 1970 school year in a pleasing and interesting manneri There have been times when something special or extra was needed to he done and these persons cannot be left without added recognition: The faculty and administration for their patience with our neVer-ending picture schedules. Warren Frank for our beautiful yearbook cover. The Lone Wolf for agreeing with our mutual trade arrangement of pictures. The businessmen of Clark County for their needed financial support. Sanchez Studio for their excellent photography. Patti Robinson and Jim Brown for their unendingr supply of photographs. Ranue Snowden for her diligence in typing the book. The entire staff for the many hours given to make this book a success. One cannot express the gratitude and thanks we owe to Mrs Verdena Purcell, without whose help the 1970 El Lobo would never have been a reality.
