JU IOR President SIDNEY PICKARD CLASS The juniors entered their year as upper classment with great anticipation and vigor. The first big event for them was the annual Junior Carnival which proved to be very successful. The next event was the class play under the direction of Mrs. Boyce. The play, Almost Summer, was a howling success. One of the most spectacular dances of the year was the Junior Prom. Class rings were received with much gusto and thoughts of sporting them to lower classmen. Class Officers are: Sidney Pickard, Presidentg Sherry Hostetler, Secretaryg Clifford Hunter, -Vice-Presidentg Patsy Reeves, Treasurerg and Marian Autry, XTICG Presldent CLIFFORD HUNTER William Heese, Student Council Represen- tatives. Mrs. D. Boyce and Coach McDoniel were class advisors. E IOR HI TORY Well' Whatta ya know At last we are Sen1ors Only four years ago we were the scum of the earth the poor l1ttle Freshmen In a very thorough 1n1tat1on the Sen1ors welcomed us to Bas1c It was a welcome that we shall net er forget Look1ng ahead to the best t1me of our l1ves our hlgh school career we plunged w1th vlgor 1nt0 the task of belng Freshmen The crownlng glory of our f1rst year was our Frol1c wh1ch was one of Bas1cs f1rst program dances Im Forever Blow1ng Bubbles was the unusual theme lr whlch balloons were the mam decoratlons ln 1947 we bravely returned to face our Sophomore vear Once agam our dance the Sophomore Revers took the spotllght The theme featured The Jub Blowers Ball At last half of our hlgh school career was over and we found ourselves adm1red upper classmen Our Junlor year was ex entful and most exc1t1ng Our class play lt Happened At M1dn1ght a three act farce proved that we were not lacklng 1n actlng ab1l1ty A gally decorated gym fllled w1th merrlment was the scene for our Jun1or Carn1val All classes and organwatxons 1n school proflted greatly Then came the b1g event of the year our Junlor Prom ln a softly lxghted gym our guest the Sen1ors of 49, and members of our class danced to the mus1c of Stardust the theme of the prom The decoratlons were strlkxng They featured an lndoor bar and n outdoor danc1ng patlo Dur1ng the last semeste of our Jumor year we recened our class r1ngs tokens of upper classm n The year qulcklx pased and we found ourselx es m1ghty Senxoxs feared by the Freshmen To show the Froshles that we held no grudge agalnst them we sponsored A Get Acqualnted Dance 1n thelr honor Luc1le Havnes Sen10r Queen relgned oxer th 1949 Homecommg events Our last h1gh school act1x1t1es vt ere our Semor Ball and play All to qulckly Commencement and Graduat1on tune rolled around We the Sen1ors reallzed that our hlgh school days had drawn to a happy close The SEHIOTS of 50 Mr Kenneth Ott and Mrs May Carpenter sponsors were largely re spons1ble for the successfulness of the Semors varlous act1v1t1es th1s past year Page 21 H ' or ll 7Y ' . , , 7 Y 7 ' Y ' KC Y ' YS . . . 0 . 1 7 ' K4 Y SY 1 7 . 7 . . ll ' ' 51 a v ' 1 ,., Y ' by the carnlval. f - 1 . - st H ' - , . .
