They represent the important governing organization of B a sic Schools. It is due largely to their efforts that our school has a new, modern shop building. The first big event for them was the annual Junior Carnival which proved to be very successful. The next event was the class play under the direction of Mrs. Boyce. The play, Almost Summer, was a howling success. One of the most spectacular dances of the year was the Junior Prom. Class rings were received with much gusto and thoughts of sporting them to lower classmen. Class Officers are: Sidney Pickard, Presidentg Sherry Hostetler, Secretaryg Clifford Hunter, -Vice-Presidentg Patsy Reeves, Treasurerg and Marian Autry, XTICG Presldent CLIFFORD HUNTER William Heese, Student Council Represen- tatives. At the Tri-State Meet held at Blythe four Wolf trackmen placed for honors. Keith Lopeman placed third in the centuryg Bob Ybarra second in the broad jump while Clifford Hunter took second in the 880. Allen Cureton after setting the Tri State record in the 660 at Needles in 1947 Went ahead to break his old record by one second At the Southern Zone Meet held 1n Las Vegas Cl1fford Hunter qual ified by taking first in the mile Allen Cureton also placed fourth in this event The Wolves are looking forward to another active season in 1950 Ba eball 1949 The 1949 baseball team was without doubt the best the school has ever produced The went through a tough eason to emerge Tri State Champions after facing such teams as Needles Kingman Boulder City and Blythe The final league game came to a 6 to 1 wm over the Blythe Yellowjackets After this the team journeyed to Bannmgs California to defend their title against Banning for the C I F Champronslup The Wolves lost this one and Banning became the C I F Champions Members of the 1949 Wolf Baseball team included Doughty Bunch, Hansen Lopeman Rost1ne Gallo way Craft Morris Ranberg Crunk Autry Blue Heher Simms and M1ller Page 72 , - x 1 ' 111 1 9 v .- . 9 7 r a y - A 1 ' 2 v ' 9 s ' x 2 Q 1 1 a 2 9 1 f I Cheerleader We ve got the pep we ve got the steam we ve got lively girls to lead in cheering our team' These girls elected by the student body to serve as cheerleaders for 1949 50 school year were Joan Miller head cheerleader Mary Swift Billie Sue Gaither and Gail Chase. Besides leading the student body in yells at the various games through- out the year the cheerleaders organized pep assemblies and worked with the Pep Club in numerous activities to promote school spirit. The enthusiasm shown by these girls has been exceptional and has done much to boost school moral.
