In order to qualify for the award, a senior must have maintained an over all “B” average durii ig his high school career and must have scored at or about the 80th percentile on the SAT., which Is the primary admissions ex- amination recognized by most colleges and universities. Outstanding senior award winners were, left to right; Beth Fowlkes, Outstanding FFA Senior, Patience Spell, Outstanding Senior At Student; Stewart Turner, Outstanding Senior-Social Studies; Greg Wright, Outstanding Senior-Mathematics, Science, English, and Spanish; Sharon Massey, Outstanding Senior-Business Education; and William Hatchett, Outstanding BETA Club Member and SGA’s Student of the Year. The Outstanding Senior Academic Award was given to the student who had exhibited the highest qualities of academic excellence during his or her four-year high school career. Leslie Page and Efram Fuller were the recipients of a special award presented for the first time last spring by the U.S. Army Reserves to a male and female student at BYHS. Page and Puller received this award In recognition of their outstanding achievements both in athletics and academics. 15
