“
Dawn displays herself in a new freedom to be ourselves. To let go — to feel the identity we have not explored. Dawn is the start of the new WE; the 80 model us the Real me, you, they— 4 5 But Hooray for the clowns and the Merry-Go- Round, the painted horses plunging round, the live, proud horses stamping the ground, And the clowns and the elephants swinging around; Come to my show; hoorqy for the show, Hooray for circus all the way round! Said the round exuberant circus man. Hooray for the show! Said the circus man. 7 It is morning, I awake from a bed of silence. Shining I rise from the starless waters of sleep. The walls are about me still as in the evening, I am the same, and the same name still I keep. The earth revolves with me, yet makes no motion. The stars pale silently in a coral sky. It is morning ... I ascend from darkness And depart on the winds of space for I know not where; My watch is wound, a key is in my pocket, There are shadows across the windows, clouds in heaven, And a god among the staffs; and I will go Thinking of him as I might think of daybreak And humming a tune a know. Conrad Aiken The Dawn of academics — studying together for a better tomorrow. The Creation of a thought, basking in the Early morning sun, reflecting a vision of solace. Photo by Robyn Rowland 13 Dawn means a new start in caring for one another. The beginning of a new group of friends; Dawn begins decades — Dawn begins relationships — Dawn begins the together experience. 14 The start of a new day means new ideas, new feelings, new and creative thoughts; Creative — A word that holds the future in its hand — for no creation would mean No future. 15 DEDICATION Bus schedules, blue sheets, registers, paychecks, absentee sheets; Printer, compiler, record keeper, writer, typist, psychologist; Always working, Always smiling. Forever coring. Forever Paula. Hardly a person embraces more of the qualities we respect and admire than Paula Blackard, our school secretary. A job well done is her reward. She thrives on pleasing people. To you, Paula, we dedicate the 1980 Yan-Tat. This book is for you first. 16 The Yan-Tat Staff CASWELL COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION James Y.
